~~~
Harriet Harman was ordered to stop misleading the public about rape by an official inquiry report yesterday.
The Equalities Minister was accused of pumping out unreliable figures about the low number of rapists brought to justice, thus discouraging victims from reporting attacks.
The review by Baroness Stern appeared to put an end to years of claims by ministers that laws and criminal procedures for dealing with rape need radical reform because only six per cent of complaints end in a conviction.
The claim was even made by Miss Harman last September on the day she set up the Stern review.
But Lady Stern, a prison reform campaigner and human rights activist, called in her report for 'an end to the widespread use of misleading rape conviction data - in particular the six per cent conviction rate figure'.
The six per cent figure relates to reported cases. In fact, the conviction rate for those actually charged with rape is nearly two out of three, higher than comparable figures for other violent crime.
You're probably wondering about my own thoughts... they go something to this effect:-
LOL
A feminist... relying on misinformation and skewing of data to paint women as eternal victims... never... surely not... surely it's a mans fault and Ms Harman is an innocent in all of this..?
LOL
But, my question is - what are you thoughts?
Yes, the 6% figure comes from presuming that every complaint of rape is an actual rape - an asumption that only a rabid feminist like Harman would make.
Actually I disagree with her. She says it is putting women off reporting - but actually, a large number of women are reporting their rapes, only to see the police do nothing about them - hence the 6% figure in the first place.
It's no wonder that the conviction rate is higher than other violent crimes, if you only take forward a tiny handful of cases, they're going to be the ones with the best evidence and the highest chance of conviction.
I think the police should try to put forward every case for trial. Let a court decide it, not a police officer :-)
Please no. I loathe Harriet Harman. To be honest i think of that smart people in the Labour party do unlike her the two. Do you remember whilst she stood for the deputy Labour management (and gained) she campaigned on a platform of "i'm a girl so %. me". No exageration. I emailed her recently to make certain why her party helps intercourse discrimination in uk Sharia regulation yet she gave no respond. the respond is that there are various votes for Labour in appeasing British Islamists. Harman does not provide a damn approximately muslim women. She's especially interested in using legislations to help women together with her style of background get senior administration jobs by way of legalised intercourse discrimination against adult men.
