Question:
Why are men so emotional?
2009-04-30 08:03:07 UTC
When a woman cheats on a man he just cannot handle it.
Im not saying women take it easily but why do men make such a big deal out of it? Women are labeled sluts, whores and in some cases the man will kill the woman or kill his whole family and then himself.

Recently it just got my attention because I have read so many news articles about men killing a cheating partner. Killing their children as a revenge.

Women tend to cry, have a few chocolate squares and get over it.
Why is it so hard for men to get over a woman doing something that is a little deviant?

Is it maybe because society and the media portrays women as innocent, not aggressive or sex driven individuals so then men are taken by surprise when faced with a real woman?

Enlighten me :-)

you're right.

in fact, by nature we woman have to go through a life that's 20x harder and much more painful than men.

and now that you include this, it has proven even more that women are stronger.

because only the stronger ones would be given harder challenges.

thanks for the support. i love you so much.

Are you joking?

Men are more emotional than women?

I guess some people choose explanations that make them feel better over actual reality.

When men cheat they're labeled losers, players, and jerks. When women cheat, the man is blamed for not giving her what she wanted.

Women don't just "get over it" over sugared snacks. There are TONS of female stalkers and whack-jobs that can't handle rejection and pester their boyfriends and ex-boyfirends endlessly.

Women kill their husbands and kids all the time. Google it. There have been several examples over the past couple years that were horrific.

The reason you probably haven't heard about them might have something to do with how the media handles it. Mary Winkler shot her husband in the back with a shotgun and ended up looking like a victim. She was out of jail in 3 months after her "alleged" abuse defense worked it's magic. Funny, how the only person that could prove the abuse was her own self.

Maybe she should've just tried some chocolate. I hear it works wonders.

That seems a little skewed... I'd be curious as to the following items before making an opinion.

1.) Out of all murders committed by spouses, what is the primary reason? What are the percentages of men doing it compared to women doing it?

2.) What is the frequency of male perpatrators doing because a woman cheated? What is the frequency of female perpatrators doing because a man cheated?

That information may or may not provide a little more accuracy in any debate...

Women and men are both capable of cheating and statistically they are deadlocked - i.e. just as many women cheat as men do. And it might be interesting as to WHY they cheat? It seems to me, that men typically cheat because of a lack of control over their inhibitions and women tend to cheat because they have fallen in love with someone else... So, is the threat of losing someone permanently a bit more difficult to handle than someone who just misbehaves inappropriately?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not excusing any violence, but I think there are a lot of complexities involved than just "men are more emotional than women"...

OMG there are so many inaccuracies in your question it isn't even funny.

I have been slapped and called dirty names because a woman thought I MIGHT be cheating so claiming men are more emotional is either a lie or inaccurate.

Second when the man kills his family it isn't over the cheating it is that he knows he is about to lose his family because even if she cheated in all likely hood the children will be taken from him and given to her. These men sadly do this out of feeling cornered and desperate.

"Women tend to cry have a few chocolate squares and get over it" this is outright false hood. We have all heard of women destroying men's property out of revenge for cheating. We have all heard of women abusing a man who they think cheated on them.

If you have never heard of a story of a woman killing her kids or spouse then that is due to the media under reporting these events.

Women are more likely to become violent than a male when confronted with a cheating spouse.

Your bias is showing on this one lol. Women/Good Men/bad.

Not all men act that way.

And not all women handle it well.

I know a man who's wife cheated on him and left him for the other man, he was hurt, but eventually he moved past it, and still sees her son (not his, but he helped raise him).

And I've known women who throw all his stuff onto the yard, trash his car, go out and sleep with everyone in sight... not all woman can just move past it.

And.. it's not just "a little deviant" .. "a little deviant" is not stopping for a stop sign... cheating is a complete betrayal of trust.. is has nothing to do with the way society views women .. it's about a huge blow to the trust in a marriage.

Furthermore, I am very much a "real woman" and I have never and will never cheat on my husband. I have real sexual desires and needs.. and I make sure I let my HUSBAND know what they are, and how to fulfill them.

THAT is a real woman, a real woman isn't a cheater.. that is a stupid way to phrase things.

Because cheating sucks!! It hurts immensely and it's humiliating.

And I'd love to see these "so many" news articles about men killing cheating partners. That hardly ever happens.

PS, this sentence:"Why is it so hard for men to get over a woman doing something that is a little deviant?" reminds me of some questions we get here talking about how rape isn't all that bad and shouldn't be taken so seriously because it's "just sex". Cheating isn't "a little deviant", it is the worst kind of betrayal. This makes me wonder if you've cheated on someone in the past.

And just FYI, "real women" are not cheaters. Women who cheat are scum, just like men who cheat.

You are kidding me right? Lorena Bobbit accused her Husband of cheating on her and cut his male member off. This is a frequent occurrence in Thailand so much, that Thai Doctors are the best at Penis Reattachment surgery. Women have often sold assets in Divorce like his prize Sports Car for $1 . They have at times committed murder, poisoned Male partners suspected of Cheating.

There is a case now of a Woman who murdered her Husband for cheating on her. Who might get released without charges.

ACFC has long maintained use of violence is an inappropriate response to the stressors of family life, whether the violence be female on male or vice versa. Unfortunately funding for domestic violence programs is typically one sided and does not address many of the root causes of the issue. See our comments in Congressional Quarterly after the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) was signed by President Bush in 2006. VAWA will come up for renewal again next year.

Thanks to Jeremy Swanson for alerting us to this story. This past week in Canada a young man, Adam Cunningham, lost his life as a result of domestic violence apparently perpetrated by his wife. At the time of the initial incident she was charged with assault. Now that Adam is dead the Crown prosecutor declines to charge her further with manslaughter or homicide, and has told the family the assualt charges may be dropped as well, since the victim - who was also the only witness - has died.

Men and women are just as emotional in that case, they just don't express it the same way.

Women do not always just eat a few chocolates, some of them get depressive and eat so much they gain pounds and pounds they struggle to get rid of later on. Besides women are taught since childhood that they're supposed to be calm, kind, passive and emotional, so of course they're not likely to become agressive, men are taught not to cry, to be strong, to be dominant, so when such a thing happens, since they're not allowed to cry, they find another way to express their pain and their way of doing it in the most extreme situations happen to be killing people i guess =P

No but seriously i haven't heard much cases like this...

Is it nature or nurture? Are men more emotional than women? Or are men less able to control their emotions than women?

Why is it that over 90 percent of incarcerated are men versus less than 10 percent being woman?

Are men more emotional than women? Or are men less able to control their emotions than women?

Consider this true story. Because of conflict among the men, men mutinied on a ship, resulting eventually with 15 men and 12 woman setting sail. They tried to live on a tropical island, but the men couldn t get along with the native men. So they set sail again and cloistered themselves on a uninhabited tropical island. The men burnt the ship so no one could leave or find them.

Surely 15 men could find a way to get along. This was not the case. Within three years 11 of the 15 men had killed each other, leaving 4.

There is no record of any of the women murdering anyone.

Are men more emotional than women? Or are men less able to control their emotions than women?

With only 4 and greatly outnumbered by women, you would think the men could get along. But one of the 4 got drunk. Getting drunk in itself points towards unbridled and negative emotions in addition to his either falling, jumping or being pushed off of a cliff.

Are men more emotional than women? Or are men less able to control their emotions than women?

Now there were 3. Surely 3 men could find a way to keep themselves calm and tolerate each other. Soon 2 of the men murdered a 3rd. Now there was two.

Are men more emotional than women? Or are men less able to control their emotions than women?

Before the one could kill the other, one died of natural causes. Then there was 1.

Finally the murdering stopped with one man, nine woman, and their children which had been born on the island.

Are men more emotional than women? Or are men less able to control their emotions than women?

With one man one would think he could live with the rest as equal members. But no, the woman were not allowed to vote until thirty years after landing.

Refer to Pitcairn Islands, Fletcher Christian, or Mutiny on the Bounty. Then ask yourself. Are men more emotional than women? Or are men less able to control their emotions than women? Is it nature or nurture?

actually hun, if I'm dating someone I expect them to cheat on me. I've never dated a woman that didn't, with the exception of a few. It's just something that's a sign of the times, it's more and more socially acceptable for people (guys and girls alike) to cheat. Personally, I find it to be a less than admirable quality in people (lack of control of oneself for starters) and I tend not to hang around their types.

It's an idividual response not a gender based one. Depends on the person. Personaly I would simply leave the person.

I do however find it interesting that you consider cheating on someone as being " a little deviant ".

Do we have a guilty conscience? lol

Because men look at women as objects and possessions. We believe in the concept of ownership in a relationship. It's not fair, and it's not right, but that's the sad truth.

By the way, I know many women who don't 'get over it'. One of them won't even let me say her ex's name.
2009-04-30 08:13:05 UTC
these men you speak of are theones with mental problems.

i think it is more true 2 say that men don't invest emotion lightly.
2009-04-30 08:18:38 UTC
You obviously don't read much.

I take it you never heard of Lorena L. Bobbitt, for example?
2009-04-30 08:09:08 UTC
OH THE IRONY!!!

Aren't women the ones that tires to torment their ex that got over them?

Men are emotional too, but they do not let it get in the way of their rationality.
2009-04-30 08:12:22 UTC
They don't need to kill, although if they were strong enough to do that, they would.

Shouldn't you be in school right now?
