We cannot punish a person for what action he or she MAY commit in future.

For example, if the Amis imprison Hillary Clinton for her horrible crimes, there is no way to know in advance that she will commit even more crimes after her release. The odds are that, yes, she will steal billions from Haiti AGAIN! or that she will use a Microsoft computer AGAIN to violate espionage laws!

But they cannot be sure.

So, perhaps you are right: Anyone convicted of rape or of using MSO or of spending tax monies on MSO or of lying under oath should be imprisoned for the rest of his or her life.

But that would require a change in the laws of that country. Mandatory life-imprisonment penalty? For some crimes, yes.

But for other crimes, release and re-integration is more appropriate.

Debra, not only don't you ever have any "studies," and your links ALWAYS refer to things OTHER than what YOU say they do, but only dangerous, primitive dictatorships keep people in prison past their sentences. Such states are a FAR greater danger to civilization than any rapist.

And the worst of the worst is when you imprison people, or seize property, without a jury trial, or conclusive evidence, or a chance to confront witnesses against them, or have bills of attainder, or "prior restraint" censorship, or similar crap. I'd rather have Lizzie Borden teaching axe-craft at the kids' summer camp than go along with THAT.

And yes, I am an American, and I am VERY well aware WHO ELSE that could apply to, when I say "such states have no right to exist."

I stand by my statement.

‘We are all still paying a price. Victims of rape and their families get a life sentence, so why don’t the rapists?’

Studies also show that the Daily Mail publishes more lies than any other so-called newspaper. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5eBT6OSr1TI

Because not every man in prison, is in prison for rape... In fact in prison, rapists are queued up behind paedophiles as the people most likely to be shanked in the showers
