Question:
Are there any sports that women are better than men at?

I've been watching the olympics and always men are faster stronger, better than women at any sports.

Is there any sport where women are better than men or the woman's world record is higher than the men's? The women's world record in the discus is further than the mens' but they use a lighter disk http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discus_throw#Top_Ten_Performers

Or where men and women compete directly and women are amongst the best?

Will women ever be as good as men physically???

(I'm not including gymnastics or skating because they are subjective and anyway if men and women compete directly, men would probably be just as good technically is not artistically)

probably not at first. In a real men vs women competition men would have a clear advantage at first until women were able to change there training and strategies.

But the whole men vs women argument is fruitless.

The only way that men and women can compete against each other is if there allowed to compete with each other.

Sport's such as tennis, maybe soccer, volley ball it might be possible.

But perhaps it is time to make new sport's? Or focus more on existing sports that are not as popular.

Like paintball, men and women could compete against or with each other easily.

Or some kind of "flag football"..

But generally more men than women like sports. So it stands to reason that men would produce more athletes.

If women were into sport's as much as men where then it would be possible to say for certainty if women and men could compete on an even playing field.

Women just aren't as interested in women's sports as men are in men's sports.

I can't find any statistics, but it is a pretty even split between the sexes in the 3 day event, show-jumping and dressage in equestrianism.

It does require strength (in muscles most people don't even know they have) and, incidentally, is one of the most dangerous sports there is.

It could be quite interesting to keep an eye on the pole vault over the next few years or decades - a sport where strength and low body weight are both important, and women haven't been competing very long yet.

Have you come across the Billie Jean King v. Bobby Riggs tennis match?

Tennis maybe. Equestrian sports. The shooting ones. Archery. Sailing. Maybe diving? There are actually a number of sports that could be equally performed by a woman and a man.

There's also rhythmic gymnastics. Although I don't think guys do that sport at all. Just like synchronized swimming.

And men are stronger in gymnastics and skating too. Male gymnasts vault higher than women. Men pretty much have to perform quad spins in figure skating these days. Women only need to perform a triple.

You seem desperate for it to be so. I can't think of any sports, however, games where no physical prowess is involved and tend to be almost pure skill, such as darts, snooker and possibly table tennis: they ought to be able to compete. Nonetheless, they don't seem to be able to do, even so.

One thing is certain. Women gain proportionately more than men from increases in testosterone and enhancing drugs, because they are starting from a lower base. Lets face it, some of the best female athletes aren't particularly feminine.

Why does it bother you?

Hey there,

get Table Tennis Pro for free here: http://j.mp/1qXDo0m

no surveys, no scams, just the full game!

The objective of the game is to develop the ability to hit the little ball back well with your bat. At first it may seem a little difficult to handle because it varies a lot with your mouse’s sensitivity, but don’t worry, with just a little practice you can become an expert in this type of game.

Okay, first off, there are no "girl sports" or "boy sports". Sports are designed for certain attributes, such as agility, strength, and speed. Some sports, such as weight lifting and strength based, are dominated by men due by the obsession men have with strength that most women do not share.

However, sports like gymnastics depend on many things other than "high flying" or "power". In fact, the most judged factor is agility and grace, which women are notorious for being better at. This is why there generally tend to be more female participants.

Since we do not have co-ed Football, Soccer or Basketball teams, we cannot honestly say which would do better. Basing your finds off of scores would be dishonest. Male teams are given more coaching due to the high levels of interest put into them that are not put into female teams. Male teams are given more support and more encouragement. Men can work through college off a sports tuition, while most women can't. Many women find it IMPOSSIBLE to even get an Atheletics Scholarship since there are next to no female college sports teams.

Also, many sports are dominated by men not due to talent, but due to gender bias. NASCAR, Golf and Snowboarding have seen their fair share of powerful, excellent women who were as good as or better than their male counterparts. In fact, NASCAR and Golf have recently proven that women, despite being considered the "weaker sex", are far better at both sports than their male opponents.

Shawna Robinson finished in the top ten of a national oval-track racing series (6th place in 2000). Earned a Busch Series Pole position with a track recorn in 1994 (174.33), and won a NASCAR Touring Series event in 1988.

Patty Moise broke the one lap closed course speed record at the Talladega Speedway in 1990. In 1995 she set a speed record for qualifing at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Lella Lombardi registered a top six finish in a World Championship Grand Prix.

Also check Janet Guthrie, Ethel Mobley, Louise Smith, and Sara Christian. Most of these women displayed amazing, awesome skills from their first races to their last. Most men are not able to brag about their achievements.

In golf, we have Michelle Wie, who can whack a ball on average 280 yards. Catherine Zeta Jones, who doesn't play professionally, is even better that more than half the professional male golfers in the league.

Women's Basketball is also picking up, and we're seeing female athletes beginning to show their stuff there as well.

However, due to the male/female ratio, most women are not finishing top. Now, if we had equal female participants to the male, we would probably see a drastic change in who is leading the sport.

Bobsledding, Tennis, Cheerleading, Shuffle Board, Horse Racing, Cutting, Aikido, and Jujitsu are long running female dominated sports (and yes, the female players are often much better than the male, despite the men getting most of the media attention). Soccer is beginning to have women show their stuff and dominate the male players, such as with Mia Hamm, Heather O'Reilly, Kerri Hanks, and Julie Foudy.

So, I believe the answer to that question is... there are many sports that women are better at. Unfortunately, our quantity far outweighs our quality in the minds of most viewers. However, I do not believe very many Men would actually take the time to look this stuff up, as they're not interested in the strengths of a woman anymore.

Anything where short bursts are important (nearly all sports) women will typical perform worse than men. This is because testosterone allows men to build more muscle and makes them more aggressive. However, if you look at distance running (and I mean going up to 50 and 100 mile or greater races) women tend to do as well as men (and sometimes even better) because women have greater endurance and pain tolerance (although they feel pain sooner). If you don't believe me on the pain issue consider child birth.

Men have just about every physical advantage to be better than women at sports that require any sort of athleticism. Women who train harder than men may be better than those particular sports but if you take the best male atheletes in the world and the best female atheletes in the world, and gave them equal training and time, there is no question that any sport that bigger, faster, and stronger people excel at will be completely domintaed by men. Women quit being arrogant (in the sense that your need to be equal in this area blinds you to pure facts) and realize that you are naturally created to be less physical than men. It doesn't men that you can't participate in, win and enjoy sports, but it is complete foolishness to think that if you took the best of the best or even the average of the average women and men and put them in the same soprts, that women are going to come out on top. You do have more long twitch muscles vfor endurance but men own every record in that field as well. You are more graceful and will excel at grace oriented sports, but when it comes sports which require physicality, you have been scientifically proven that you can't hang. The reason that more men participate in sports isn't because of some long standing male bias but because human beings like to participate in things that they excel at. women participate in things that they excel at as well and an unathletic man is just as likely not to participate in sports as a unathletic woman is because it doesn't fit what he was created to be good at.

I will give you this, all in all you are much better human beings than we are though.

No i doubt it, assuming the man put equal energy and time into the sport.

But its not really fair, men are simply built physically stronger than women, we have an advantage.

Its nothing against women for sure, its like me being pissed that i can't give birth

I would say certain types of gymnastics, especially the balance beam. The male gymnasts don't have an equivalent to that. I've been told it's because females, due to their lower center of gravity, can balance themselves better.
