Would you dump a man for leaving the toilet seat up?

Ok, in all honesty, yes I would.
Is that too trivial a problem to dump someone?

Only if it were an issue... If he stood there and told me "I'm a man and this is how it is", then yes! He's out!
Accidentally, on occasion? Then, no.

Perhaps the reason for this is that, ommiting diarrhea, most times people are DESPERATE for the toilet, and may not look at the seat, is when they are desperate for number 1, not number 2. Or at least this is true for me. So men have no chance of falling in, in this case, as they only sit down for number 2. Which tends to happen less frequently, and in a less rushed way. However, I have only ever 'fallen in' (i.e. sat on a toilet with seat up) once in my life, when I was quite young, but I still remember the horror, so perhaps it is not that this is a frequent occurence but that many women have had the experience once or twice and it has SCARRED them ;)

When I hear people go on and on complaining about the toilet seat being up or down, what comes to my mind is what a charmed life they must live. I wish my life was so trouble free that such a minor thing would even register as something to be concerned about.
Note, your question is based on the idea that it's your preference and what is convenient for you that must be catered to. You ask how difficult it is to put the seat down. It's not hard - so why then so you feel it's such a horrible burden for you to put it down if necessary? Couldn't he just as easily argue, you should leave it up?

No, but I would request they put the lid down after using the toilet.

Yes, if they refused to change. No man is worth touching his pissy toilet seat.

I find hygienic issues very important, but I'd advice and help my significant other to improve and give them chances before breaking up a relationship.

You should just toss his rig out into the cold because you're too blind to put the seat up when you are done.

Yes, it is. We are all human and some of us are absent minded - not malicious. I'm female and so I don't do this but I leave the iron or coffee pot on sometimes. It's not my intention to burn the house down; it's just that I'm distracted sometimes. We all need a little tolerance.

Why should men have to put the seat down? I never understood this obvious sexism. I mean, gravity does most of the work for women.

men, you have to put the seat down, because when women go to the bathroom, they take a flying butt-leap towards the toilet without looking, so if that doesn't work out for them, it's your fault.
