One must consider that people sometimes stare into the distance with no awareness of what's in front of them, and if that is a man doing so, there's a chance an attractive women will be standing or sitting still across from him. If that can be considered 'eye rape' by anyone, I never wanna go outside except for school.

Your eyes are allowed to ogle whatever is put in front of them, whether it's a lady wearing almost no clothing, or a beautiful sunset. Don't try to indicate your better than others by having a law stating people are unworthy to look at you without your permission.

It's rude yes, perhaps the penalty should be a smack in the mouth.

However, it is unwise to be partial in such a situation is it not? Can't turn down an eye rape from one guy but like it from another. It would have to go for everyone.

I despise eye raping people and always look away. It's very rude you know.

I was eye raped by a girl once. That **** was really wierd. When i ignored her she got pissed off and proclaimed i was stupid for not running to her like a trained dog.

Nope, as others have said, don't dress in a way that provokes the 'looking' that you object to. If you dress with everything on show, are the disgusted grandmas eye raping you as well?

Already there are far too many laws. We don't need a law for eye rape. There are already laws against stalking and harassment and if it is excessive a restraining order can be obtained.

Should there be laws to protect women from creepy guys eye raping them?

No.

These type of laws would lead to Sharia Law.

Look if you have a problem of people looking at you then don't even bother to come out of your house or even bother going to that place. Simple that solves your problem. Rape is something that is done against a persons will in a physical and sexual way without consent.

rape involves intercourse in some way. assault involves physical contact. harassment involves actually saying something or at least somehow violating privacy. so if a person looks or glares at you, how can you even tell what they are thinking? what about if a person saw you in the course of business and remembers how you look later and has a fantasy what does that count as? there are many things that a person may have thought on a vast number of things that we don't like, but that have every right to think them, and of course, we never have any proof of what something thinks. on the other hand, back in worse times, the KKK used to hang African-Americans simply for looking to long at a white woman. So this is all pretty ridiculous I think to even suggest.

WEAR more cover or get over yourself. ..people might not be looking or thinkng your same nasty thoughts...a person who legally blind looks as if they might be at a stare...because they move theirs eye and smile at you...they don't tell everybody they meet their blind..you really need to get some council...in the Far East whole country's have laws forbiding women to walk alone and they are only allow to show their face to family inside the house..because at one time people. Went to war over nasty thoughts & having nasty ideas...even if a man looks too long at the womens eye today..both wife and the man looking can have their throuts cut by the husband. ..we can go back to mid evil. Thoughts are our own and one day you will grow old and wished people looked at you that way...see so if it was a man you found handsome. ..you wouldnt care..problems are...but this person was not your type...so you have an issue...so who is really the sick one..you or them....I Would again advise to seek council....before you have an innocent legally blind. Person or and underaged child arrested...take some responsibility. ..your body can also be a responsible dressed deterrent. ..dress nice but not too reviling... you cant both seek a fashion statment and a

hate the results. ..that makes you at fault for not being able to relate..there are some very sexy women in movies and advertising. ..some spend a large amount of money to get looked at like that..which is their right...those women would call you nuts...or brain dead..and to use what you got...for happy not ugly thoughts...its ok to want..it not ok to take without asking...but if what you got ..gets you out o f a traffic ticket. .then you would like the looking up and down...no i think you are just very young...talk to your councillor and work things out...just be configured as a over conscience objector till then...good luck..

I think we should focus on making laws that prevent women from acting sexist and pathetic... equality is a little more important then women latest insecurity syndrome or child-like urge for special treatment.

Rather then waste time on what sexist women want... we should focus on making sure men gain equal rights....

such as the right to his children..

the right not be forced to go to war if women don't..

the right to have an abortion... (such as being released from any obligation to care for a child he does not want that he made, like women can...... yes its pathetic women do this but that is there legal right so men must have this right also.... and men need to be compensated by women if he was discriminated against in the past to benefit them by having to pay child support,, so women need to be forced to pay back any man who didn't want a kid but had to pay child support to her, aka the leech.

the right to prevent his child from being aborted, or at least the right to be paid money compensation if his child is killed the womb, like women can if she has a forced abortion) ....

the right to his belongings in divorce... the right to defend him self and prosecute a women for hitting him.. the right to equal education..

the right to equal chance of getting a job or into a collage...

the right to equal funding from government programs

the right to not be discriminated against to give a leg up to an inferior women who believes its okay for her to be a leech because she is weak.

Oops! My Other Half isn't so sure that's a good idea - that it may be pandering to them. I want to make it clear, my intention was only to boost YOUR morale, not to encourage THEM.

Remember those who look at you lustfully are probably pathetic wimps, whilst those who are admiring you then, well, cool!

But perhaps I should stop digging now!

Wow why do women get all the attention in this situation, I personally label them the "victimized gender." Always crying out the most pathetic of scenarios, and then they want equal rights. If you can't handle getting checked out then wear a turtle-neck and some sweat pants. I conclude with this, a man "eye-raping" a women is as simple a complement as they come, so take some pride in getting "eye raped" and maybe say thank you once in a while.

good luck trying to prove someone raped u with there eye's

if u walk down the beach in a bikini u have been raped plenty of times.

if it offends u then wear some clothes. when u are just about naked what else do u think a male is thinking when u looks at you-here is a hint---he already has part of his body inside yours.

sorry but i have been on the beach and females walk around with not even enough bikini to make a pair of child gloves........we look and yes we are doing some very naughty things to u.

wear some clothes if u do not want us to have EYE SEX with you

I have seen really dumb questions here before but yours takes the cake! Most women strive to be noticed for their looks, eyed by good looking men. That's just human nature. If you don't like guys watching you then stay home with all the other prudes in the world. Most of all stop trying to speak for most women when its apparent you don't know most women

This is very stupid.. But just to appease ur question...yes, but, first define the word "creepy" What is considered "creepy" by one women might not be "creepy" by another.. Hence the problem....You want to be noticed by men ur only interested in but not by those u deem "creepy"..Don't u think that's hypocritical and just plain stupid?..You can't have it both ways which seems like what women want is to have their cake and eat it too. And then if u get past the hypocricy and the self entitled nature of this idea, it should be done only if u make a law against "creepy" older women "eye raping" younger men. Having this law just aganist men is a double standard. Whose to say there isn't "creepy" older women out there? Women can be just as perverted as men, if not more so. The world doesn't revolve around just what women want and laws for just women. If u wanna apply such a idiotic law, it should be applied to everybody equally. To suggest otherwise, would be hypocritical and self serving lacking a broader vision to include more people. VERY STUPID. but not surprised considering the self entitled nature of women these days. To be clear, I was being fecicious when I said yes to the question just to point out how ridiculous this question and how sexist, narsiccistic, self absorbed, neurotic, paranoid and shallow you are. I think u need therapy or just to grow up and get some thicker skin. Typical Generation "Y" attitude. To all the thumbs down i got, I'd say u are just as immature, sexist, narsiccistic, self absorbed, neurotic, paranoid clueless and shallow as the person who asked this question and which also describes the question itself. People like this should all be in a mental institution or exiled away from society.

Eye rape. Like a guy ogling a woman? No, that's not rape. She suffered no loss from being glared at.

So what's next? Word rape? Thought rape?
dreamt the dreamer
2014-12-02 10:38:06 UTC
No. It is natural for people to look at each other sexually. I'm a woman and if fantasizing about a man when you look at him on the sly was a crime then I'd be a serial rapist. Just don't be creepy about it. Pre-existing terms for being creepy about it include leering [look or gaze in an unpleasant, malicious, or lascivious way] and ogling [stare at in a lecherous manner].

It is already a well known concept and is considered to be a matter of manners. Polite people do not ogle or leer at others. They are discrete.

2014-12-02 06:27:18 UTC
Here's the problem with that. An attractive guy could look at you in the same way as an unattractive one but you would perceive these in a completely different way. So it really comes down to discrimination against the less fortunate looking. And how arrogant of you to even say this. You are making yourself sound like some kind of royalty that mere humans should not look upon.

Not trying to sound conceded, but I'm on the other end of that. I happen to be a guy that gets starred at by women a lot. As a musician I've even had to deal with girls in clubs that have had a few drinks and think it's okay to grab my butt, etc. Of course touching a person you do not know is wrong, but to say there should be a law against looking is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. I just tell myself that I'm lucky to have something people want to look at.

Ooof. I'm tempted to say "there goes another of life's little pleasures". You can't control who looks at you when you leave the house. Granted there has to be a reasonable expectation of civil conduct: some men think they have the right to pass judgement and award marks out of ten - loudly and often offensively. or that this gives them the right to be obnoxious to, for example, a fat girl who might be insecure about her size. That's wrong.

But you can't stipulate in advance that "only the men I personally deem attractive enough to consider dating may look. From anybody else, especially ugly guys, this is an unwelcome creepy intrusion" Sorry, sweetheart, you have to accept it from everybody or nobody at all. And most of us know to look - that's allowed - and not stare. which can give cause for offence. We kind of learn this in our teens, you understand?

Lets say you feel you are being eye raped. What make you think the other person is not looking right through you in there own thought. here is the big one if you are so conscientious of this other person maybe you are the one doing the eye rape. I was once accused by my wife of this in a bank. i was watching this young lady as I needed $35.00 from my account. she first fumbled around in her money drawer then she called for help from another woman. they both fumbled around in the drawer then they step back thought for a minute. they both come from behind the counter go to this closet door open it, inside are three safes about 5 feet by 5 feet open it up get out some money come around behind the counter give me the money. All this time I am thinking they sure do have to go through an awful lot just to get me $35.00. Just seems to me someone was not focused on there job. Here is one last thing if your not eye raping others you wont even notice them eye raping you. focus on what you are doing don't want the looks don't advertise.

Yes your honour, I do feel sorry for killing this poor young girl with my 4x4 but a second earlier I did notice she had a short skirt on and not wanting to be prosecuted for "eye rape" I averted my eyes, so I never saw her step into the road.

Next stupid question please !

Edit where the Hell has this "occular defloration" come from: Uganda ho for gods sake get real !

There already exists a word in the English dictionary "Depucelate"

http://www.yourdictionary.com/depucelate

http://www.webster-dictionary.org/definition/Depucelate

Are we really going to use this term from a bunch of morons!

Depucelate means to deprive a person of virginity (imply's none consensual)

defloration or to be correct: deflourment would mean the same if it was a real word !

What if the (victim) is not a virgin ! technically the accused cannot therefore be prosecuted for "occular defloration"

Sometimes, I grieve for this world: I really do!

when someone comes on here and asks a question like this. I think, are we evolved from the same ancestors as the apes, or was it the chimps! clearly some have not evolved at the same rate as others!

The more usual, and "older" term, would be "ogling" or "leering".

It is more usually considered "sexual harassment" than "rape" - but I agree that if your grandmother was offended fifty years ago to be "ogled" or "leered at" - then it is fine for you to get offended.

Back before the "sexual revolution", women had recourse to slap the guy and tell him off publically for being a "cad" or exclaiming loudly "I'm not THAT kind of girl" - polite society would then support her by letting him know that what he'd done really was unacceptable public behavior.

Sadly, too many "cads" are taking advantage of the "sexual revolution" to insist that it's not their fault for leering, it's HER fault for some reason. Her sweater was too tight, her skirt was too short, etc. - they've been trying to make it someone else's fault for centuries. Sadly, that doesn't seem to have changed much...even if "sexual harassment" in the workplace is illegal, there are too many people who really seem to think that the person they are harassing should take it as a compliment on how "hot" they are.

The saddest thing that I have ever heard was a two year old's appearance being called "sexy" when I though the outfit was "cute". Certain words really do not mean the same thing - "sexy" refers to looking like a sex object - nobody under the age of consent should ever be referred to as "sexy" - but I've been harassed, in my younger days, and the person that I reported it to was not really very supportive of my right as a female to feel safe at work.

That would require a substantial amount of discussion as to what the actual act entails; length of look, by whom (prejudice) and by what are we supposed gauge this by .... mind boggles at that. I was brought up on the idea that there is nothing wrong to look (ps. the man that stated a married man should not look at another woman ... actually ended up taking off with another woman ... other than his wife), and although I understand certain men's leers can be uncomfortable they are best ignored. Do we wish to follow those archaic Indian laws, in regional areas, of lower caste people looking into the eyes of higher caste people ... and the harsh penalties that follow for such offences? Have you not heard of the results those lawless counties deal out towards ... no less than women relatives of those accused? The brutal rapes authorised by those lawless courts are always towards the female relatives ... and all because one of their male relatives was accused of looking at a higher caste woman. No, we certainly don't need laws like this. We obviously need more education, manners and sensibility. If you feel a guy is rudely leering you then either ignore, or speak up and ask them if there is something wrong or at the worst tell them to rack off. Yes, I know some can make you feel uncomfortable ... been there. Many a time when I was young I simply changed train carriages at stations. There are more important things to worry about than someone being overly rude and staring at you though.

it is a mistake, it is not exactly a rape..you can end up blind... it is light reflection on the thieve´s eyes,( so there must be more than one!!!) plus something else.. it is a fellony.(beware).

Horny eyes → are other stuff (and that fact is called→ hormones, arousal in the electrochemical matter, it happens inside the body and it is thorough, a natural and biological process, it is an arousal in chemical potential and health), THEY OR WE CALL IT LOVE. Very different from using hurting lights, odd glasses, or even odd substances such as

sildenafil. or whatever.

I believe there is a thing called eye rape but what can be done. I work at a hospital were there is this doctor who loves looking at women with big boobs and he has in one and two occasion watched me. Then there was another time were he starred at a co-worker unbuttoned shirt, it took one nurse to point it out. I would love to tell him how uncomfortable that makes me feel, but if there was a law against creepy stares then about a lot of guys would be in jail and women too. I suppose it would be easy to say that first it's a creepy stare then it leads to rape but again what can be done? It seems like a no win situation.

2014-11-30 03:30:22 UTC
Well, I think I will take a different approach to this from everyone else...though I have never heard of "eye rape" or "occular defloration"...I would say that you are not being raped by the person s eyes, but by the thoughts they are having while looking at you...also, the Bible says that just thinking about having sex with a person is the same as doing it because those thoughts have a direct spiritual effect which in return can have a physical effect if it gets bad enough...I also believe there are laws in the United States against leering though I can imagine they are hard to get a conviction on because some women might think a guy is leering while others might think he is just checking them out or whatever...

Women often dress to be attractive and to have males look. If they find the male attractive, then everything is good. However, if it's an unattractive male, then it's "creepy"

So now it's the crime of "looking!"

Now I have heard it all. Eye rape? Good God! It's time to grow up a little girlie and get over yourself. Rape is force able penetration against a person's will, not looking at someone. I have sadly been raped and believe me if the guy had wanted to undress me with his eyes and pretend I would gladly have sat still for that. As it was I had over 200 stitches in places no one should and spent a while in counselling. I still have nightmares and flash backs. Eye rape, get a grip.

This is such a idiotic question. No there's no such thing and no it shouldn't be a law. Think of it like this, if it goes for women it goes for men. So if a "hot guy" walked past you and you looked at him he could press "EYE RAPE" charges on you just because you looked at him. Big f*****g whoop someone was staring at you. That person may think you're "hot".

women are expected to spend their lives living in a bag so men can't see them

" Creepy Guys Don't look at me; I dress this way to attract attention from Non Creepy Guys "

that should really do it

I know what you are talking about. Face it, there are creeps out there. Most often, they are just weird and will never harm anyone.

Actually creating laws and the subsequent enforcement would be nearly impossible. Trying to establish what is a normal act of one human viewing another as opposed to a violation of another person's personal space would be difficult. Attempting to determine the thoughts in a person's mind that they did not act upon or speak about would be impossible.

You have a valid point with a sincere purpose but the logistics of creating enforceable laws seem impossible. For now let's just hope our society maintains and strongly enforces laws for those that actually cross an obvious line of behavior.
Amit

how are you going to prove that the person looking at you was thinking about something sexual? i don't like when anyone looks at me for any reason at all, just makes me uncomfortable in general. so i suppose we need laws to protect that too, no one can look at anyone ever, no matter what.

On its face it sounds completely ridiculous. A woman bends down before me to take a closer look, let's say at something on a table surface and I am on the other side of the table. With my eye I enjoy the view of her breast and feel a voyeuristic thrill of having stolen a free peek. Now I should be hauled away in handcuffs and labeled a rapist? Come come now! by the same logic what should I do instead? Accuse her of indecent exposure and have her hauled away in cuffs, labled a exhibitionest or temptrist. No of course not! Instead logic prevails, the 2 second rule is applied. Leering beyond that is punishable by a dirty look. With todays technology I can however see situations where such a law may be applicable, called for, and even necessary. Cameras can be mounted in many unsuspecting places that can and do often violate a person's general assumed right of privacy. A shoe mounted spy cam, for example would give an upskirt view exposing far beyond what an unsuspecting victim may have been willing to share with the public.

1. women look at (sometimes watch!) men when men are not aware. Once I experienced that at a restaurant, so I didn't enjoy my meal!2. How about pocket rape? Some women are looking for men's money. 3. Yes, it would be stupid to deny it exists when body language counts for more than verbal language in assessing the truth. I think its absurd though that there should be or are any laws surrounding it. Its as stupid as making urinating illegal. Most of the time people do not even realise they are looking at people until that person glares at them.

It's all part of the human mating ritual. As long as the person 'eye raping' the 'victim' understands that a glare back generally means that they are not interested in procreating with the 'eye raper'

Its disgraceful how much double standards are about these days. I think we should go back to the first laws, an eye for an eye, an arm for an arm and all that jazz

In California state prisons the "Rule Violations" of the prisons do exist and does have a term "Wreckless Eyeballing" it is especially for inmates incarcerated, because they behave like idiots, they do stupid stuff to get off on staff purposely. They stare at you from head to toe and make nasty gestures, and it is sexual harassment. It can go both ways for a woman or a man. I wrote an inmate up for that behavior, so yes, it can be true, but I don't agree with the word "Rape" maybe "Wreckless Eyeballing."

Not at all. Because then there would have to be the flip side, where men should have to be protected from the creepy women who check them out as well. Just looking at someone is not cause for getting in trouble, even if it is 'creepy'. While It's true that eye rape happens, it doesn't actually violate anyone.

I've seen this go both ways. Men gocking over women with their eyes and women drooling over men with their eyes. I've even seen homosexuals look at one another like pieces of meat. But hey, that's just human nature and the laws of attraction. I hardly think that's rape and think it's offensive to women who have actually been raped. To go through that traumatic experience and then have people call looking at another person rape seems highly offensive. How can they both be in the same category?

In places where rape is defined as sex (sex in the most general sense; hugging, hand holding or in this case looking) without explicit consent, this would mean people wouldn't be allowed to check people out without asking. As for places where rape is defined sex without an explicit "no" (I think this is more common? at least with stuff that isn't "full-on-sex" Yeah there should be laws, but only if the "victim" expresses that they don't want the other person looking at them

?
2014-11-30 15:42:02 UTC
No. Because the next thing would be controlling what people were thinking. And some people are just waaaaayyyy overly sensitive about every single thing. I was on a bus once and this girl went up and punched another young woman in the face, real hard punch that broke the woman's nose and drew blood--simply because the other woman took a quick look around the bus and the angry woman caught her eyes landing on herself right when the other woman swept her eyes past. Chances are the bloody nose woman would not have been able to consciously describe the assaultant prior to the punch, the perusal just wasn't that lingering. But the other woman took offense and punched. Do you really want to live in a society where everyone had to keep their eyes to the ground so as not to offend someone else? You'd never make any human contact at all. And getting the law into it will only make things so badly worse because the law doesn't have a brain so ANYTHING that anyone wants to claim as eye rape would hold--and that would go for women who happened to see a nice looking man and her gaze linger just a second too long--he could charge her with eye rape. As long as they never touch your person or get too close (or stalk you), I really don't care what someone else is thinking. They can stare all they want, they can be stripping e naked with their eyes, I just don't care because it's not hurting me any.

There are laws in Uganda that specify the 'Eye Rape' (as you term it) that you speak of. The Ugandans have termed it Ocular Defloration. There is a hefty sentence if someone is apprehended carrying out Ocular Defloration, a sentence of death if you are caught more than twice and they also burn down the village where you were born.

The Ugandans although have found a way around this by wearing sunglasses or pretending to be blind. Conviction rates have fallen to just under 500 per year due to the fact that the cunning Ugandans are now the worlds largest procurers of sunglasses.

As a sidenote, from the 541 people arrested last year in Uganda for Ocular Defloration 387 have been woman and for 76 of them it was third offense and thus, they are no longer of this realm.

No. I think it's a term people have created in replacement of "ogling" as one poster said. And I don't think that "eye rape" was ever meant to be something taken seriously. It sounds like some teenage girls were gossiping and needed to use a different term than "ogling" so they used "eye rape" because so many people use the word "rape" in the wrong context, or jokingly. And, truth be told, women ogle men, too. In real life, men and women ogle each other. In pop culture, men and women ogle each other: in movies, TV shows, in books. It's called "checking someone out" and it doesn't cause harm to anyone. It's how people appraise you, or show that they are attracted to you. They're not assaulting you with their eyes--yes, if it's a creepy old man leering at a sixteen year old girl, it's super uncomfortable, but it's not sexual harassment and there shouldn't be laws that ban checking someone out.

"I'm suing him because his eyes lingered on me for too long. It was eye rape. I am traumatized. I have nightmares about it. I can't leave my house in fear that someone will gaze upon me for too long. I'm in therapy. I have trust issues all because this man eye raped me." Can you imagine that? I can't.

I am also an ordinary earthling like you and many others. I have my own weaknesses, shortcomings, drawbacks, deficiencies, defects and flaws. Hence I know for certain that my thinking either this way or that way is not going to change that persons proper functioning of the eyes. Now of course his eye function is defective. He should definitely consult one ophthalmologist. Even then his eye sight may improve but his attitude may not change. That is what I feel. Then everything is left to your own sweet will and choice to decide whether he is a good man or bad man. Because it is after all your brain-child.

anonymous

Is there such a thing as eye rape? Well, yes. It's called lust. Although it's very wrong morally, rape is a strong word for it. Most people have lusted sometime in their lives, esp during puberty.

Should we make laws against it? I think there's enough laws against sexual harassment-they just need to be applied better. We should really just teach people to be more polite and respectful.

However, even though lust is a sin, a little bit of it is necessary to propagate the human race.

Eye Rape?????? How about if you don't want guys checking you out ,staring at you don't dress like a tramp. Where I work, The woman walk around in these black stretch pants and their skank heels. You know like hookers. These stretch pants or what ever you call them are so tight, you get to see all the indentations in their fat. So you can see everything. We laugh when we see them. Would you want someone putting you in a car that looks like hooker. How do you even squeeze into something like. Special machine or something.

If we put ‘eye-rape’ laws in place then the next step is thought-control laws. Humans are sexual and society, the media, advertizing conditions us to look for sexuality everywhere. Also, I lost count of the amount of times I see girls check out guys like he’s a piece of meat. I’m sure a lot of guys find getting checked out just as creepy and uncomfortable as women do. Literally the only way to stop this would be to just have everyone wear burqas; which would wreck our free society.

Thx for the 75 thumbs up =)

Eye raping triggers when you wear mini skirts, spagetti straps or anything that shows a bit of your private body parts. It's a tease so don't be surprised if someone keeps on staring at your body. In the contrary, if you aren't wearing any teaser clothes, then the problem is the person staring at you so the best thing to do is just ignore them, anyway they can't get what they wan't. Cheers ^_^

i think more common than "eye rape" is the commonality of women who over-estimate their own attractiveness and desirability.

If one dresses provocatively to attract Chris Hemsworth and gets mad when it draws Steve Buscemi's attention instead, that doesn't make it eye rape. It makes one a cheap who-r-e

This is bullshit. Unfounded feminist jargon. Women are overzealous to use the rape word as a sense of power. It's so low and pathetic. Women use the fact that men rape women to make generalizatoins and criminalize the common man. It's like someone who kills people randomly because there is war and death. I'm offended by the very thought of a law of this nature.

This question appears to reflect the attitude that women have no biology obligation to attempt reproduction every month with someone. Women in the USA are particularly bad about neglecting their biological obligations. It also appears that you think being nude around someone isn't an offer to reproduce with everybody in sight (one at a time of course). Visual contact is essential part of reproduction. How would you feel about having a child with someone who wouldn't even look at you?

It's just rude. To clarify I am specifically talking about staring not glancing. You need to be careful where you do that. Some people will put up with it but some will actually cause physical altercations over it. Beware if you do this to a..shall I say ghetto or hoodrat woman and her man or a male friend or relative is nearby. Even if you aren't staring at her if she catches you looking in her area (so out the window behind her) for long periods of time she may very well get in your face and cause a fight. If you insist wear sunglasses.

I don't believe in eye rape at all. Man or woman - you have looked and thought of someone in a sexual manner. If you say you didn't, I think you're lying to yourself. This is something mostly all of us are guilty of. It's okay to admire someone you think is attractive, and yes you may have a sexual thought about them. Who doesn't fantasize or gaze upon another person they think is attractive? It's rubbish I tell you! If a man looks at me, fine. I can't control what they think - but I am happy they think I'm easy on the eyes! Lol xD

The way the person looking at you would have to be some serious staring. People do look at each other. People may admire what the other person has on for clothing or looking to get a person's attention.

You can only find out why the person is looking at you only if you ask them. Then you will find out if them staring at you is creepy or not.

No, that would be dumb, there are plenty of people that end up daydreaming at the mall or at a bookstore or anywhere really and if such a law were to be put in place, first of all, what anonymous said: it would wreck our free society. Also on top of that, everyone who has moments where they daydream just about would probably be arrested or fined at the least. If there's someone that's staring at you creepily then I suggest you either slowly walk away, or maybe even talk to him cuz you never know, it could be an awesome person once you get to know him.

Totally absurd. True rape is a physical act and not a normal reaction to something that is meant to provoke. Todays women's fashions are designed to make men look. This is like condemning a hungry person for staring at a juicy steak that is being dangled in front of them. It is just wrong to advertise something that is not for sale or even looked at.

First let's define rape by why is it so offensive:

The following thought process is akin to finding the intersection of rape on a Venn diagram:

-Would rape necessarily lead to physical damage of the body? No, it depends on force/coercion used

-Would rape lead to degradation of mental abilities? Not really, depending on the question below

-Does rape necessarily result in psychological damage? Yes and no, would you like rape, what makes you hate rape, is it purely a construct of the human mind? Quite possibly- do dogs cry rape when they are mounted? Why do women in the past jump into rivers or kill themselves after rape? Do women still do it now? Why do people kill themselves after being defrauded by Bernie madoff/ or losing money (basically man hours of work) to the stock market hence-

-Does rape lead to a sense of loss over one's body when it is appropriated by another person without perceiving oneself giving the consent? Definitely

Now "eye" here refers to the act of eye-ing

when someone looks at another person of what ever gender no-one can say for certain what that person is thinking, it may be that they are just daydreaming or deep in thought on some other subject totally unconected to what ever YOU think they are doing, so I would suggest that it is probably you that has the perception problem at what is going on in the other persons mind, and no-one should judge a book by its cover.

That idea would never turn into a law...you did remind me of a reeeeal creep, that looked me up and down in a repair shop one day...ewwww he was placing a huge order, while looking me up and down, I was dressed in long levi's, oversized tee shirt, no makeup...he did not miss one thing on his order, he turned my stomach, what a horrible, creepy feeling that left me with.

You know when a guy has one eye offset from the other and pock marks all over his face, and he hunches a little too? Well, when he stares at a girl, the moment the light catches his eye is when it's considered rape. He has no right to look at someone attractive like that. If he's attractive, and stares though, it's ok. He's entitled to do so. (-⊙﹏o-)
WHAT THE DEUCE??

To answer your question, NO IT IS NOT A FORM OF RAPE. There is no such thing as eye rape.

As much as you may wish to, you will never control where my eyes look or what I think when I do look.

I say this is a problem of cause and effect...if women would wear not to sexual clothing that probably wouldn`t happen...lets say this problem of "eye rape" would not happen if the clothes women wear wouldn`t be sexually provocative...same case in mens cases allthough I think the main problem is with the female gender...Its like the breast implant story...why do women get breast implants and then get offended when somebody takes a peek?they should be proud that their money was properly spent:)

Rape is a physical action that can be done to Women, and Men (sodomy) in a manner of speaking. This term "Eye Rape" would better be termed as fornication of the heart. Or if married, adultery of the heart. It is something that both Men and Women can do. We all must guard our hearts, because that is where wrong desires start. If not dismissed, desires grow until it is put into action. This could be applied to any wrong desire.

Honestly, that is so subjective. What may be "eye rape" to you may not be to someone else, etc etc, whereas physical rape is completely unobjectionable. It would be virtually impossible to uphold and enforce any type of law pertaining to something so abstract.

Life is very cheap in these third world, backward countries like Uganda. They stone homosexuals when they can be delivered from this sin and repent. They want to bring Old Testament laws Leviticus 20: 13) when we are living in the dispensation of grace.

Read thus: "But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God" (1 Corinthians 6: 11).

Idi Armin was the president of Uganda and also a killing machine. Now the spirit of killing and murder continues in some other form or fashion. The Lord can forgive you from this sin as he did the Corinthians (1 Corinthians 6: 9-12 ). There has been therapy around for this for decades, but Satan desires to keep it a secret.

Of course, it is wrong to look at a woman and lust after her. As Jesus said: "If a man looks at a woman and desires her, he has already committed adultery in his heart. But there is no need to kill him just for that -just repent (Acts 3: 19).

No that's stupid.
?
2014-12-01 07:14:55 UTC
YES. There's verbal rape too. I hate all 3 forms with a passion. It's just not right. Even when I'm wearing a god damn sweater and jeans I have to deal with guys looking all in my face and trying to talk to me when they have no business talking to a chick who yeah is 21 years old, but has been told has the look of a 16 year old girl. It is disgusting.

A woman, even she is not in her most right and humble mind, should be able to walk outside making a spectacle of herself without getting ogled or touched. The way everyone says that a woman would deserve it if she was wearing practically nothing shows that the human mind knows that such a reaction is harsh and wrong. Why not turn the other cheek if the way the woman is dressed is so inappropriate, if we are so righteous to say that she would deserve something? Why not tell her she might want to cover up? She might not know any better thanks to most negligent parents out there.

Anyway, I digressed. Some guys are just totally out of line and need to practice some ******* restraint given that they are supposed to be the "stronger sex." They would absolutely hate if a homosexual man made advances upon them the same way the make advances on women. Think about that one.

What about the problem of women 'eye raping' men? Although we believe that women are the ones needing to be protected from men 'eye raping' them, what about the women that claim they are just looking at a guy, when they are actually 'eye raping' them? There should be laws in place for both men and women punishing 'eye rape'. But honestly, how would they convict someone? Someone could simply lie and say they weren't 'eye raping' (as you have named it). Is there really any proof that someone is 'eye raping' other than the victim's or any onlooker's accounts of it? What if someone is falsely accused as revenge or for some other purpose? Innocent until proven guilty, only, there's no real way to be proven guilty.

Women spend a lot of money on cosmetics to enhance their attraction. If women don't want the attention then perhaps they should not use them at all. In the old days women didn't dress as provocatively as they do today. I think if you want to change things first start with yourself.

Eyeballing, was the term used 100 years ago in the US. White women would claim that black men were 'eyballing' them, and making them feel 'unsafe'; which was regarded to be a crime that indicated the black man was likely to rape the woman, or another white woman in the near future. Hundreds of black men were lynched for 'eyeballing' women. The Woman's Auxilliary to the Klu Klux Klan spread this ideolgy, and was very powerful within the KKK, and the WKKK basically ran the KKK in the 1920's after a woman siezed control of the KKK by (falsely) accusing the male grand wizard of the KKK of rape / sexual harassment. Women abandoned the KKK immediately after women got the vote / sufferage, and the KKK quickly declined and lost almost all it's membership soon after. Feminists of the 1960's revived the same slogans and tactics of the WKKK, and simply dropped 'black' from the jargon, so the WKKK propaganda that claimed all black men were violent, savage, rapiest, changed to the 'modern' feminist agenda to portray all men as violent, savage, rapiest...

No. Paying attention to someone is one thing. Being a victim of lust is not good.

I think what's more creepy is this question potentially...

It's totally obvious none of us would need to look at anything else if our gf and bf actually turned up.

I'm so up for staring at walls as long as my forevs gf is there too. But no, God puts us in a room alone, and somehow God it would seem, does hate us, certainly prevents us from being together. I still call on God's name, trying to be good in His and Her eyes.

Just move to Uganda Where they think like that ?

You can be like King Herrod's women. Have someone killed for your displays and Idolatry.

Even worse, there,in Uganda you can burn people because you expose your form to random public situations awaiting comment or response.

Since you cannot control what people think or see,

YOU CAN START WITH SELF CONTROL.

You can also seek help for self centeredness.

Describe your circumstances to a psychiatrist, the need to be coveted, and the need for someone to take action about it.

Since your perception of the results of your display is bothering you, you could check yourself.

If there IS - that means we'd all have to consent to be looked at. Unrealistic nonsense. Non-physical contact of another human = no form of 'rape' or forceful sexual act;

What you're describing is the almost impossible to avoid temporary ((sexual objectification)) of the intrinsic laws of sexual attraction and libido.

Rape ≠ Sexual objectification.

Sexual objectification ≠ forced coitus.

The easiest way around it would be to buy a big dog and take him with you when you go out. Some creep was eye raping me while he was waiting at a bus stop. This was during the summer, so I'd been wearing a tank top. This guy was staring at me, somewhat pervishly, and my dog, a big black 7 year old labradore noticed and stuck his ears up, seemingly glaring at the man. The man turned around pretty quickly when he noticed the seemingly glaring black lab wearing a choker chain (doesn't actually hurt them, just stop him from pulling) and a matching chain lead. Also, when taking him out for walks, pervy older men get out the way pretty quickly. It's funny since he's the soppiest thing in the world and only has the choker chain collar and lead to stop him from pulling my arm from my socket. I'm 16 and pretty tiny so I'd probably be easy to take out, yet when I take my dog for a walk, people step off the pavement. It's a simple and easy thing. Buy a dog that'll grow big, love him/her and spoil him/her with cuddles (but keep him in the peak of fitness) and he/she will grow big and muscly and terrify the pervs away.

Of course there is. Eyes are always penetrating people's clothes, imagining all sorts of lustful rapacious things. Every time you walk down the street, some women are so irresistible, who knows what kind of hardcore porn movies they might be starring in, in the eyes of some passerby. It's horrible.

And think about all those poor guys, when a woman walking past looks at him, rips his clothes off with her eyes and realizes he has micropenile syndrome. Imagine the abject humiliation of the poor man. He's done nothing wrong.

But we also need to be concerned about Eye Murder, about those psychopaths that not only imagine rapacious acts but who murder with their eyes. Gizzards and limbs scattered about, severed heads on posts, something needs to be done about these horrid Eye Murders. We should restore the Death Penalty in those states that abolished it. We've got to catch these Eye Murderers and stop this horrid crime.

But what do about those crazy people called Eye Poppers? Is it discriminatory or should we exterminate them outright? Who knows what's going on with those eyes. And people with eyeball tattoos should be skinned. What else can you do to stop the irreparable damage caused by those insane eye tattoos?

And only in a country that has turned men into sissies and women into biitches, like the United States, would that law be considered.

Your "thinking" comes from not "knowing."

Once upon at time during America's 345 year racist history, the enslaved were beaten mercilessly for any perceived infraction where proper deference was not shown to the "Whitened." Hell, in 1956, 14 year old Emmett Till was murdered for allegedly whistling at a "Whitened" female!

So, where are you going with this in light of the dubious Journalistic credibility behind the recent staged scenario submitted by a female walking and wearing tight jeans through a predominately Black & Hispanic urban area? And, at what point will you guilty females stop dressing like whores, while expecting to be treated as nuns?

Let's face it, women tend to be quite vain! After all, the lion's share of clothing apparel, hair-care products and TV commercials are directed at that targeted audience. Moreover, females lack the physical strength, though not the physical beauty of males; so therefore, please guard your actions accordingly.

By the way, tell the NFL and every American University and Public school to dress the Cheerleaders in hijabs, okay? After all, some of you have no problem exploiting your natural assets to elicit a sought reaction!

?
2014-11-29 20:11:35 UTC
No! Getting ogled can be flattering or an annoyance. In the end It can be sluffed off, not leaving you scarred for life like real physical rape would cause, There's no need to throw a Hissyfit. Will personal space be extended to the distance of eysight? . If everyone in life took this seriously, There would be laws against all our senses. If someone wears a nice smelling cologne. Will we be arrested for smelling?

If we were not allowed to look or experience each other in any way. The human race would die out.

Also, What if the person that Ogled you was someone you think was very desirable?

You can't tell me that everyone would be offended by that. That's how some relationships start.

A day will also come when we will be old, saggy and ignored and complaining of not being looked at anymore.

Eye Rape is taking things way too seriously and would be a waste of time for the legal system and Lawyers would be the only ones to gain.

Yes, if you mean sexual assault by inserting or touching another person's sensitive areas with an eye.

No, if you mean just looking at another person, no matter how "sexually objecifying". The "victim" can choose to dress in a less revealing way, or stay away or walk away from places where one would be likely to be looked at in that way, eg. beaches or singles' bars. The "offender" must be free to look at anyone who chooses to be where he or she can be seen and have no reasonable expectation of privacy. Don't put a huge burden on others for no reason other that your own convenience or whim.

here is some information about the physics phenomena called 'the Observer Effect,' where the observation of an 'object' has an impact on its behavior. from wikipedia:

"In science, the term observer effect refers to changes that the act of observation will make on a phenomenon being observed. This is often the result of instruments that, by necessity, alter the state of what they measure in some manner. " http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Observer_effect_%28physics%29

there's also a principle in social science called 'the Looking-Glass Self' concept, which details the relationship between an individual and society; how personal behavior is affected by how one is 'viewed' by society (specifically, how an individual 'views' themselves to be viewed by society). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Looking_glass_self

here is a recent article regarding race, specifically the politics of the ferguson trial, which i think incorporates both the Looking-Glass Self concept, and the Observer Effect principle - the author makes reference to the physics' observer effect in the article: http://www.nytimes.com/2014/11/30/opinion/sunday/where-do-we-go-after-ferguson.html?_r=0

i consider that the physical and metaphysical are closely related. so i think there theres a 'spiritual' parallel to these 'scientific' principles. in essence, one can affect something merely by the observation or 'looking' (thinking) about it. no, you can not police peoples thoughts (or 'viewings'), but that doesnt mean that the principle that one can mentally affect another with their 'mind' (or eyes') is not true. especially when there is an intention to do so.

interesting information. thanks for sharing.

How would such a law ever be enforced?

If a law against "eye-rape" was subject to the ordinary standard of criminal proof (beyond reasonable doubt) then no-one could be convicted except men who could not afford legal representation and were intimidated into pleading guilty.

If such a law is an exception to the ordinary standards of criminal proof, then it gives virtual carte blanche to women to have men they do not like being criminally convicted. This would allow blackmail and extortion by unscrupulous women (yes, dishonest women do exist), it would discriminate against less attractive men, and would sometimes lead to wrongful conviction of innocent men at the complaint by an overly sensitive woman.

Some women dress to look sexy (sometimes), presumably to be looked at. Yes, they may only be dressing to attract gorgeous guys, or to impress other women, but once out in public they can expect to be looked at by anyone. Similarly guys can be looked at by women or by gay men, but we do not have a culture of male beauty in our society.

In this country, there is no "eye rape". We call it ogling or girl watching. Many women call it sexual harassment while other woman enjoy the treatment. It is all in the perception. So now why isit one thing to some women and something else to other women when it's the same thing.

No. But there is such a thing as g-rape. A man G-rapes a girl when he forcibly shoves grapes into her G-string bikini. A small variant of g-rape is called date G-rape. A man is said to date G-rape a girl when he shoves dates (the fruit) and grapes down her G-string. If a man has dates, grapes, and melons, then he is said to statutory date g-rape a girl if he shoves grapes and dates down her G-string, and puts two melons in her top (because she has not grown her own melons in her top yet). The activities of g-rape, date g-rape, and statutory date g-rape are all crimes. If you are a victim of g-rape, date g-rape, and statutory g-rape it is alright to eat the grapes, dates, and melons because dates, grapes, and melons are some of the tastiest fruits out there.

No, regardless of what Uganda does. I would point out that lawmakers in Uganda have wanted to make homosexuality a capital crime. I suppose one could prevent it by wearing shapeless clothing and a veil. Eye rape? Is this a serious question? How would one even define such a concept? An individual has control over one's own body. The light that reflects off that body is free. Is it eye rape to attend a play and stare at the stage? What about watching a teacher at school or a boss who is giving a presentation? How does one define "creepy"? Is it when someone you don't think is attractive looks at you?

I think that yes, men and women can be guilty of looking at someone in a way that the viewed person construes as creepy; however, "eye rape" is not a thing. Have you ever read 1984? To make "eye rape" a crime, law enforcement would have to know the thoughts of the person staring. That would make "thoughtcrime" a reality, as well as bringing about "thought police." If someone's looks are making you uncomfortable, move out of their line of sight, approach them about it, or find another solution. It is a highly dystopian idea to make a creepy look a punishable crime.

not really. there is a huge difference between merely looking at someone and committing an actual physical rape. obviously if someone is being overtly threatening in the way they are looking at someone then that's a problem but you can't really convict anyone of an offence. i suppose the answer is to just gte away from that person and ignore them if it's bothering you.

No because it is often a natural reaction of a human being to look at someone that is attractive. Communication between a man and a woman is often built based on mutual eye contact within public settings. I know it maybe uncomfortable to have a random stranger staring at you, but you cannot legally prevent anyone from looking at you. The best way to avoid that would be either to wear conservative clothing, surround yourself with intimidating friends, or politely let the person know that you are making them uncomfortable.
SC
2014-11-29 17:10:45 UTC
the law against eye rape is eye witch craft. I have never heard of eye rape. but if somebody is making you uncomfortable by looking at you, look back into their eyes like 'Carrie' or like a character from a ghost novel and have your friend or somebody go behind that man and throw a stone or something.
?
2014-11-29 16:46:26 UTC
No, no such thing as eye rape, and, there should not be laws against what you term 'eye rape'.
2014-11-29 13:38:32 UTC
I believe that we should stop thinking of sex as a taboo thing. this is why so many kids want to have sex so early, and think about it earlier and earlier in their growth cycles over the years. because they experience sexuality in their daily lives, but then are told they shouldn't look or that they should wait 'til they're older. this sort of thing only makes them wonder what it is they're missing, and so they stare to see what the big deal is.

in fact, as crazy as this sounds, if women didn't wear coverings on their tops, guys probably wouldn't freak out when some girl as showing more boob than average... that's how it is over in Africa, and none of the guys freaks out about boobs. the less of a "big deal" you make about something, the less it matters.

"eye rape" is just mental insecurity causing a stigma in your life. if you treat them like they are nothing, you will have no problems. if you have problems, go to the police...

I would say that is part of everyone's imagination at work. Both woman and men do it by looking and imagining what another person may look like with out cloths as a partner or prospected partner in bed. Personally I would not call this as eye rape.

A lot of the woman that want to run around with nearly nothing on and showing them selves off, if you don't want to be looked at then get dressed properly.

Islam is the religion which teaches about modesty and certainly the concept of hijab has been introduced in order to protect the women and giving security and privacy

The best way via which a women will be felt protective against unlawful gazing by wearing hijab

Oh my jeez. Woman, Men, female, male, ARE SEX OBJECTS. We were born to reproduce. Get over it. Im not saying rape is okay, its not, but men/women will do it anyways, just like a bear will attack you anyways, its your position to defend yourself. I cannot admire a pretty/handsome face? Im a woman, not lesbian, but sometimes i cannot look away from the colour of a womans eye, or the beautiful hands of a man. Eye rape, jesus, what do you women come up with?

A great way is to wear cloths that cover yourself. No laws needed.

No one thinks you're attractive. We were looking at something else. And it's not rape. And no there shouldn't be laws against it. That'd dumb.

Rape is entering someone, without consent. How does one, enter someone with their eye? Perhaps the term is, fantasize in a perverted way.

Maybe the women who complain should wear more modest clothing.

If you girls would wear clothes that do not make you look like airport hookers, no one would look at you, and you would be hacked off about _that_.

all I can say about your very strange idea is:

"A cat may look at a king"

I think yes. It is like an initial step which will ultimately lead to the real one.

And I think laws to punish it would sound funny . And one can deny it easily. It depends on the mentality of the gentleman.

if a woman dresses provocatively, or is just beautiful, then she can not pick and choose who admires her.

if you don't want to get looked at then do go anywhere where people are

Yes, in poor and under-developed third-world western countries (where women empowerment is in an abysmal state), men throughout the place continuously ogle, stare, lech at women head-to-toe.

I experienced it first-hand when i went to India. I was groped in a bus, whistled at, lewd comments were thrown at me and people wanted to touch me. Rapes, eve-teasing, sexual molestation, harassment...it's all very common there.

Yes, eye-rape, staring is an offence and a crime. It should be made into a law.

Eye-Rape is rape. It doesn't matter if it's an As s-rape or a vag-rape, rape is rape! Ear rape is much more common than eye rape, and doesnt cause as much discomfort to victim as Eye-rape, but it shouldnt matter! Rape is rape!! Don't rape. In eye or anywhere else.
