Question:
Is anyone else getting tired of listening to the 'pay gap' theory?

When are feminists going to accept that the pay gap is social/career choices women make compared with men and not some systematic discrimination? Such as valuing flexible hours and less hours per week over lucrative pay like a man for a high powered 52hr week.

Businesses pay you based on your experience, qualifications and how much profit you make the company.

I'm pretty sure it does happen where a woman finds herself making less than a man but it would be rare, im pretty sure it can happen to a man too. Just last year in the UK a lot of male public sector workers found themselves denied a pay rise while other women and some men got theirs and all ethnic minority workers go their rise. LOL PCness me thinks.

Women are not SYSTEMATICALLY payed less than men like feminist are arguing.

I don't believe discrimination of this sort happens very often at all. I am aware of a couple of odd cases which were resolved, but as the law is in favour of equal pay, then I have no 'theory about the pay gap'. People get paid for the work they do. Certain jobs such as careworkers and nurses should get a higher wage, but I think most people agree on that.

What I AM tired of is people believing all feminists believe in this theory, I don't, I haven't even heard it from a feminist, only other people proving it wrong.

I'm sick to death of seeing the same misogynist lies you're repeating.

Taking into account the things you mention, there's STILL a pay gap.

It's a lie that ALL women value flexible hours, fewer hours; all men don't.

No, businesses pay based on lots of irrelevant things, along with some relevant things.

Your saying something is rare doesn't make it rare, it just makes you deluded.

Women ARE systematically payed less than men (and denied promotions they've earned) -- whatever hate-mongering liars like to think.

For just one huge example, research the class action suit against Walmart.

I'm sure here in the UK it would be rare - no one wants to open themselves up to a law suit.

On the other hand, many countries might not have the same laws. And women are PAID less than men in those countries.

What I dislike is people claiming there is a wage gap, then citing only feminist research or studies, which were conducted to "determine" the wage gap. It is never a neutral study.

EDIT:

Akira,

Naomi Wolf is a feminist who believes the wage gap exists.

It doesn't affect me, so I don't worry about it. Pay is basically based on time on the job, experience, education and difficulty...not gender.

Yep. It all has to do with choices. No one is out to get us ladies!
