As with Marianne, I have a real issue with the word "manipulate" for in most situations it is a self-serving, insidious maneuver to control. Yet sadly, for the manipulated, it is a violation, a betrayal, and a spirit wounding lie.
Thus, the ONLY time I figure that one should attempt to manipulate someone into "thinking another way", is if that person is standing on the edge of a cliff, with tears in their eyes, ready to jump and end their life. At that point, pull out all the stops, break every rule, and manipulate hope INTO that person.

It's the word "manipulate" that worries me. Perhaps "influencing" someone to see your point is not bad. But to "manipulate" them seems deceptive. And I could never support that. In that case you would be working things in a direction that might benefit yourself without regard to the one you are deceiving. Therefore, there is NEVER a good time when you should manipulate anyone in to your way of thinking.

If you are trying to manipulate them into your politics or practices, do it when they are seeing their old methods fail in front of them. If you are trying to get them to sympathize with the problems that current laws are impressing on you or your family (ex. you are trying to get naturalized as a citizen and they are against immagrants), you should live out your problems in front of their eyes. That is when they are most seseptable (?) to your manipulations. Or, finally, if you are trying to get them to just see your side of things, try out your manipulation tactics on them when they are at a point of depression, like after losing a loved one or a at a downfall in their lives. It may sound cruel, but it is the best way to get somone to do or see how you want them to.

Manipulation is never right. You can try to convince someone of things, but manipulation implies lies, cheating and force to get things your way. It is terribly unfair and just plain wrong.

Take a minute and realize how stupid your question was and get back to me when you realize that manipulating people isn't right for one reason it can make you lose the people who loved you and it can leave you alone

You should never manipulate anyone. We each have our own way of thinking.

Yes, during the meals. I'm serious! They are less critic in all aspects and can "accept" things better.

Pointing a gun at their head often hastens the process.
