Do you think girls can do computer science as a major in university, or are men better at it?? Be honest, I don't mind, i believe that some things men are just naturally better at, I am very interested in computerscience but I have no idea if it will be a waste of time/money and embarrassing as a girl. I would love to learn computer imaging but it is only a minor at my university. I love art and computers, science and math, I'm not super great at math but about average. it just depends on the concepts. another thing that men seem to be better at- math. I was surprised that my math teacher is a woman though. when i did discrete math there was only 2 other girls in that class out of about 30 guys. what do you think??

Im a computer science major and girl who do that stuff are very smart down to earth and they aren't hanging around starbucks with the other stuck up girls from college. Thats for sure. Nor will you find these girls on campus hanging around too much. These girls come to class and go home. And I have to take Pre Calc, calc 1 cal 2, statistics, Descrete and a few other math classes. java 1, java 2, c++ and aglorithim class, and a lot of upper divison computer science class depending on what way you want you degree to be in.

I think you must be from a country that is very different from the one I grew up in.

There have been many graduates of math and computer science programs where I'm from. By which I mean - I know many women in their 50s and 60s who have been working in those industries all of their lives. So naturally, the younger generations have even more female candidates in those classes.

My daughter has a Bachelor's degree (science) in computer science, and is currently working in IT as a government contractor. Women make up about 40% of the workforce where she works, most of the older workers are men, so the ratio is a bit skewed.

She graduated *** laude, by the way.

Anyone can do anything they set their minds to. Sure women can do computer science. Nothing at all weird about it. The only people who have issues with it are people who like to label others based on traditional believes that they believe without question.

Of course they can. Some of my best friends are women in I.T. fields. "Better" is subjective. Follow what you love.

Never let anyone try to tell you that women cannot do computer stuff or that the first computer programmer was a woman (that is a myth). But plenty of women contribute to I.T. in various ways.
